Your team is your most valuable asset in running a business; it’s the backbone of your operation. By using effective leadership techniques, you can identify operational issues that are hindering your team’s performance and develop better leadership strategies to become a great leader.

Motivation is an essential part of the workplace, and you should aim to make your employees feel motivated and inspired. You need to encourage and inspire your employees every day; otherwise, your business won’t function well. In order to achieve good results, it is imperative to constantly think about how to motivate and inspire your team.

“I think a great leader is one who makes those around them better,” Asher Zamir, told us in our interview. “There are many tests for a great leader, but I really look to those around them: Are they growing, becoming better leaders themselves, motivated, etc.?”

Innovation and change require the creativity of people, not resources. When people are given the freedom to pursue their passions and motivations, it creates what Asher Zamir calls “human magic.”

In this interview, Asher Zamir, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Zamir Equities, shares his insights on building a truly engaging work environment and boosting employee motivation through simple means. It’s time to shed some light on the thinking and decision-making behind Zamir Equities’ culture, and on creating a company in which every employee can grow professionally and feel content.

How to create a motivating workplace?

Asher Zamir: The best way to build a great workplace is through positive changes that make your employees feel happy, motivated and inspired. Employees should be treated fairly and feel that their personal needs are important. Without the people, the company would not exist.

Here, we have the opportunity to grow together. With the help of their leader, everyone can establish short- and long-term career goals and establish a career path. As well as helping employees develop their existing skills, we’re happy to assist them in acquiring new ones.

Last but not least, work has to feel like work: it cannot be too easy. People will become stagnant without a challenge. But give them the chance to achieve something amazing as a member of a team, and they will grow, learn new skills, and gain experience.

What rules should be established and applied to motivate employees?

Asher Zamir: If employees are having trouble staying motivated or are experiencing burnout, it is vital that the management and leadership team take a look at the rules and regulations that are causing this. What are the rules that need to be established and applied to make a difference? Here are a few simple ones: trust, support, common goals and leading by example.

In order to build trust, you must not micromanage your employees or withhold information from them. In order to work well, transparency and freedom are essential. Working remotely and having flexible hours can be very helpful.

A culture of support is also crucial — through feedback, assistance with more difficult tasks, finding time to answer questions. Leaders should also receive constructive feedback. By doing this, both sides can make an effort to work together more effectively.

Every company needs a common goal. Startups are driven forward and motivated by the vision of their founders. It is important for a company to set ambitious goals for itself once it has achieved success. It is important for employees to feel that they are contributing to something important and ambitious.

Lastly, and this is a piece of advice for leaders in particular, leading by example brings amazing results. Absent-minded bosses do not motivate employees. The whole company has to grow, which means you need to be there, be active, talk to your team, and put real effort into it.

What challenges will we encounter as we work to achieve an even better approach?

Asher Zamir: As we’ve discussed, it is important to keep in mind that employees are not just numbers, they are people and each one of them has a story. This means that you will have unique opportunities to create an impact on their lives.

Working with executives is one of the biggest challenges in a growing company. To support our leaders, we need someone who will share knowledge with them and work with them on effective processes. At Zamir Equities, we have a lot ambition as a company. Our business relies on the people we hire, so we need a thought leader who will devote all of their energy to helping our employees succeed.

Conclusion

Engagement is a vital part of any organization, and it’s important to make sure that your team is having fun at work. When employees feel engaged and happy, they are more likely to voice concerns or suggestions that could improve the working conditions. A great workplace environment is one in which employees feel motivated and inspired. The key to creating this environment lies within the implementation of simple yet powerful leadership techniques.
